I’ve always found the physical comedy of Jack Black to be hilarious and his musical prowess is amazing. If you’ve never seen The D in concert before, I suggest getting on that STAT. Unfortunately, Jack’s latest venture Year One with costar Michael Cera has been less than awesome. Rotten Tomatoes only has it at 19% positive reviews out of 113 and it calls it a “poorly executed, slapdash comedy…”
But we know he’s better than that, so in a stab to save some credibility, here are 10 of our favorite moments in Jack Black cinematic history.
10. Paul McCartney in Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story
Sometimes actors are just better suited in supporting roles than lead billing. Black may be one of those people.
9. Devlin in Bongwater
In an otherwise terrible and pointless movie, Black has a great part as a forest dwelling, weed growing hippy.
8. Motorcyclist in Anchorman
While short, the punting of Baxter has become an iconic scene in frat houses nationwide. It deserves some recognition.
7. Dewey Finn in The School of Rock
If you don’t think SOR is hilarious, you’re probably a terrorist.
6. Lance in Orange County
This is just one of those movies that you cannot help but laugh at. And Jack’s portrayal of the drug-crazed brother is a big reason why.
5. Jerry in Be Kind Rewind
While the critics didn’t like this film so much, I find myself watching it everytime it pops up on HBO. It’s pretty hilarious, the end just starts to suck the life out of you.
4. The Farmer on Mr. Show
In one of the best musical numbers from Mr. Show, the Farmhouse Musical is a great lesson in morality when it comes to sticking your penis in holes.
3. Barry in High Fidelity
Everytime Jack Black sings “Lets Get It On”, an Angel gets laid.
2. Jeff in Tropic Thunder
I was surprised when this movie was as funny as it was.
1. JB in Tenacious D
It is JB at his prime. This is a video they used to play at their concerts, it is gross and amazing.
